2026 Reads Thus Far

Image
Hello and welcome beautiful people!  Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 and I spent the day doing classwork and getting my steps in in this heat. According to my Apple Watch, between both of my walks, I walked a total of 4.4 miles or 7.08 kilometers. Just like last Thursday , today's topic is about BOOKS!  So far this year I have read 7 books with a goal of wanting to read 25 by the end of December 2026.  Goodreads  l ikes to remind me that I am 5 books behind schedule😖 but I have a plan for catching up! The seven books that I've read thus far are listed below with titles having an asterisk [*] beside them being read with my ELA class: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope , by William Kamkwamba* Kingdom of Ash , by Sarah J. Mass Two Roads , by Joseph Burchac* House of Earth and Blood , by Sarah J. Mass The Jade Setter of Janloon , by Fonda Lee Hidden Figures , by Margot L...

A Graduate Students Backpack

Image
Hello and welcome beautiful people!  Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog 😊 . Today is Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 and I spent the majority of the day going through the readings for my summer classes. I also went to a silent book club even at Troubador Booksellers  (not sponsored). I have yet to finish  my book, A House of Flame and Shadow 😩 and we are already in July. Just like last Wednesday , today's topic pertains to what I keep in my backpack as a graduate student.  If you read last weeks blog , then you'll remember ole girl. If you didn't I suggest starting there and them coming back to finish this weeks post. Anyway, since it is summer, I keep all that is in the above picture in this bag but come the fall and the start of school, I may have to dig up an old tote bag or find a big enough purse to carry everything.    As for what I actually carry within my backpack, it's the same as when I was an undergraduate student at Winston-Salem St...

Business Casual Outfits

Hello and welcome beautiful people! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. Today is Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, I drove around the city this morning, took a little afternoon nap, and am now working on this post and subsequent homework for my courses. Just like last Tuesday , today's topic pertains to teacher outfits-- specifically business casual.  I have always liked a nice pair of pants, a tucked in solid tee, and a long sleeve cover up. I especially like the fall and winter seasons as that is when you can put together nice layers and still look cute and chic. This past year, I had a rotation of 5 pairs of dress pants (dark brown, brown, beige, grey, and black) where I was able to create a nice teacher wardrobe-- almost every pair of pants matched with all of my tops. Seeing as all of my dress pants had wide bottoms, I was able to have the option of dressing them up with short heals or dressing them down with a pair of sneakers. I also like the fact that many of ...

Goals and Summer Classes

Hello and welcome beautiful people! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Monday, June 29th, 2026 and I spent the weekend doing some classwork as I am taking two courses from now until the end of July.  Check out my intros that I did for both my classes: BioPoem and Egypt (MDSK 5402) Covid-19 and Book Fairs (MDSK 6252) In on of my videos, I list Covid-19 and online classes as an area where my needs weren't met as a student because I prefer face-to-face interaction and the socialisation aspect of the classroom environment. It is difficult to emulate that online as people could be faking it just to fit in or for appraisal. On the other hand, having taken more classes online then in person, I like the fact that I can work ahead and at my own pace-- I also like taking classes during the summer as oppose to in the fall and spring as they are shorter in length.  Needless to say, my goal for these to classes are to continue to get As and to stay on top ...

Summer Solstice and Indigenous People's Day (Canada)

Hello and welcome beautiful people! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Friday, June 26th, 2026, I woke up this morning at 5am to do a smooth 5k walk with Mad Miles  and while I did not run thanks to some slight knee pain (thanks softball😭), I walked the entire way with my 25-pound weight vest. Seeing as Friday's are going to be Fun Fact Friday's , I wanted to start off with something that many people see but don't know too much about, and that is the Sumer Solstice and Indigenous People's Day in Canada. The US celebrates Indigenous People's Day in November. I have always liked how the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year in terms of daylight, falls on the same day as Indigenous People's Day in Canada. And while I may not live there anymore (for the time being), I still like to observe the day. It is one day on the calendar but being Indigenous is much more than just a day. It's a lifestyle of movement, medicine, and resp...

Current Summer Reads

Hello and welcome beautiful people!     Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Thursday, June 24th, 2026, I again, spent the majority of the day driving around the city checking out new places. It's basically dinner time. but I like today's topic as it is about one of my favourite things: BOOKS!      On Goodreads , I have set a goal of reading 25 books this year (January 1st-December 31st), and while Goodreads likes to remind me that I am 5 books behind schedule😖, I say life happens because it is now summer time and this teacher WILL be catching up on her reading!      Below are the four books that I am currently reading (I want to preface that all opinions and views are my own) :   This is my most current read that goes EVERYWHERE with me. She's the third book in the Crescent City series and my fourth book this year that is over 600 pages😅. The previous book, House of Sky and Breath , ended with TWO MAJOR plot...

A Teachers Backpack

Hello and welcome beautiful people!     Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, I spent all morning running around the city for my dog when I really just want to be reading my book, A House of Flame and Shadow 😩. Nevertheless, today I will be sharing what I kept in my backpack this year. It changed slightly from when I was in university but for the most part I feel as thought every student has what I am about to list in their bag. Before I start, I want to preface and say that I am not sponsored by any of these brands (though it is a thought and potential goal) and any views or opinions are my own.     Alright, for starters, I have had this backpack since my junior year of high school and she has been holding it down ever since. She cute, she stylish, and she adds a pop of colour to any outfit, especially the winter outfits when those become seeped in blacks, greys, and neutrals. I haven't really had the need to re...
