Filipino's In Basketball?
Hello and welcome beautiful people!
Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog😊. Today is Friday, July 3rd, 2026 and I am currently watching professional ultimate frisbee as I am writing this. As I am watching these two teams play, I don't see any Filipinos on either team but then again, it is hard to distinguish most people's ethnicity on television.
However, this Fun Fact Friday pertains to the recently crowned NBA Champions, the New York Knicks player, Jordan Clarkson.
After doing a little research across the internet, I found that his mother is a Filipina-American from the Municipality of Bacolor. In relation to where my Lola is from, Bacolor looks to be about a 3-hour drive from Baguio as Baguio is further north in the province of Luzon.
It may be because I follow a few Filipino Instagram accounts or that my family really likes basketball, but it is cool to know that Jordan Clarkson is the first NBA player of Filipino descent to have won the Larry O'Brien trophy in the 80 years that the league has been around.
As always,
